What Are Foundation Degrees?

Foundation degrees are programmes of vocational study designed by colleges and employers working together. These courses have been designed specially in order to be both accessible and flexible. The main aim of a Foundation Degree is to encompass both formal acedmic study and learning at work, and through work. These qualifications enable you to learn while you work as well as earning while you learn.

A Foundation Degree is the equivalent of the first two years of a Full Honours Degree and they usually take two years to complete, although they can take longer. Easton College works in partnership with the University of East Anglia, which provides the opportunity to students who successfully achieve a Foundation Degree at Easton College to 'top-up' to a Full Honours Degree at the UEA.

There is a credit system for undergraduate degrees in the UK: A full Honours Degree requires 360 credits and a Foundation Degree requires 240 credits.
