Sports Development and Leadership Diploma, Level 3

The purpose of the Level 3 Sports Development and Leadership is to develop and progress students towards their intended career pathway of working within development and leadership within the sports industry. The course looks to develop an understanding of a variety of key principles in sport, covering fitness, development and coaching as specific areas of focus. The course is a 2 year programme. In year 1 you will be completing the BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Sport, and in year 2, you will be completing the full BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport qualification.
4 GCSEs at grades 9-4. (Including English Language and Maths at a Grade 4)
Completion of summer tasks (sent out following a taster session)
Two complete references (School and Sports Coach/PE Teacher)

Learners will gain industry experience alongside their qualifications.
Learners will participating in a personal development framework.
Learners will have English and Maths development embedded into their curriculum.
The courses is assessed in a variety of ways, which include:
4 x External Exams over the course (2 in year 1, and 2 in year 2)
Some of the units you will assessed in over the 2 year programme include; Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training, Sports Leadership, Sports Development and Provision, Coaching for Performance, Skill Acquisition, Research Methods and Practical Sport.
Progression from the course can include: studying at a higher education level (degree), apprenticeships or going into industry having gained sport and leisure related employment.
Some of the career destinations include; Sports Coach, PE Teacher, Sports Development Officer, Sports Enrichment, Performance Analyst, Activities Leader and a Fitness Instructor.
