‘Good’ rating for residential accommodation experience

17th August 2021

The latest inspection from Ofsted has given Easton College a ‘Good’ rating for the experiences and progress of our students in residential accommodation.

The overall rating of ‘Good’ highlighted the fact that our students in residential accommodation get real benefits from living on campus. The report said:

Young people are positive about their experiences at this college. They feel that the staff care about them and know them well. Young people said that they are well looked after and that the staff understand them and know their interests. Young people have a sense of pride about being a residential student."

The report found that residential students feel safe at the college. Thanks to the college’s ‘skilled and confident’ safeguarding staff, students said they feel they can talk to staff if they have worries or concerns.

The leadership team at the college is described as ‘ambitious’, with the report noting ‘high expectations’ that leaders have of students and staff.

Since the merger with City College Norwich and Paston College in January 2020 there has been significant investment in facilities at Easton College and improvements to management and to the student experience.

Corrienne Peasgood OBE, Principal of the merged colleges said:

Things have really begun to move forward at Easton College and it’s great to have this recognised by Ofsted in our first inspection since the merger. With many of our students coming from across Norfolk and beyond, the ability to stay on-site is an important element of their education and their personal development.

The inspectors looked at a wide range of things that underpin the positive experience and progress of our residential students, from student support and safeguarding, to the physical accommodation and the high quality of catering. We are really proud to have had this positive feedback and are continuing to make improvements to all aspects of the student experience at Easton College."
