Bark & Basics is open for business

4th December 2025 – Tags: Inclusive Learning

Our General Enterprise students have opened their new college shop, Bark & Basics, selling a mix of pet accessories and everyday essentials for Easton College students, staff and visitors.

Bark & Basics can be found next to the dog grooming reception area and is open from 9.30am-1pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The shop will give our dog grooming customers a chance to pick up dog treats, toys and other useful items for their four-legged friends.

Students and staff can drop in for a range of stationery, hand-made greeting cards, gift wrap, sweet treats, and more.

The General Enterprise students have renovated what was an empty and unused space into this fully functioning shop.

The group carried out market research, ordered stock, advertised to potential customers, filled the shelves, and are now serving customers.

The General Enterprise students have risen to the challenge of setting up and running the shop. Matthew said: "I hope to work in a shop in the future." And Ella added: "I am already feeling more confident about the thought of getting a job one day."

The proceeds from every sale go back into the Inclusive Learning department, allowing us to fund additional resources and activities for our students.  Fran Collier, General Enterprise Course Leader, said:

Bark & Basics provides an important opportunity for SEND young people to develop their employability, teamwork, independence and communication skills – helping to bridge the disability employment gap and prepare students for their future pathways.”
