What You Will Study
Work Matters is a supported internship on the Employment pathway in Inclusive Learning.
This course is right for you if:
- You are aiming for paid employment as your next step
- You are nearing the end of your education journey
- You can travel independently or are working towards independent travel
- You have developed employment-related skills and are ready to apply them in the workplace
- You would like to gain real work experience with local employers
- You are motivated to explore different job roles and career pathways.
Entry Requirements
- You must be 18 or over.
- There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Most students will have an EHCP.
- Work Matters is a course for those who have a learning difficulty/disability and who have a strong desire to gain paid employment. You will need to be able to travel independently to a workplace and to Norfolk House in the city centre for your study day.
How You Will Be Assessed
You will be assessed through:
- Workplace observations
- Progress reviews
- Progress towards personal targets and EHCP outcomes
- Employer and Job Coach feedback
- Personal employment planning.
Course Progression
You could progress to paid employment full or part time, MINT or an Apprenticeship.
Where Your Course Can Take You
This supported internship is designed to move you into paid employment either during the academic year or within 6 months of finishing. If you complete the internship and are not in paid employment you will be referred to MINT to work with an employment job coach to find paid work.
Fees
If you are successful in gaining a place on this Supported Internship the college will apply for funding for you to come to college, you will not have to pay any fees.
